Founder, At-Choo Foundation
My best teachers had 4 legs.
After volunteering at a Los Angeles shelter for years, I saw how it was like a war zone with what dogs were dealing with. And I also saw the power of determination and being stubborn in helping them.
I needed to do something more with my life. So in 2015, I created the At-Choo Foundation. Due to beautiful supporters I was able to contact rescues and offer funds. Professors of Love (they are so much more than 'dogs') in the medical ward and on the euthanasia list started having their universe tilt and they began to be rescued.
I also began to see what was going on south of the border. How there was a lack of resources, jaw dropping abuse and cruelty, and laws not being enforced. I also became aware of the incredible compassion and passion so many people living in those surroundings had for the animals. With that, I took the At-Choo Foundation to Tijuana and teamed up with some Dog Warriors I had connected with to save lives. Without help, these dogs die cruelly. Invisible and alone. My goal was #1 to make them visible simply by noticing them. Tell them they are beautiful and worthy of everything good. Emotions matter and dogs are our secret teachers of everything that's important in life. They deserve kindness and respect.

Like in a war, we help the worst of the worst. So many of my friends can't see the images or hear me talk about what a dog has endured. It's hard to see and what would happen if we didn't see?

Making a difference gives my life meaning. Makes my blood feel carbonated. To see a dog go from suffering alone on the streets, to being healed, adopted, getting their own Instagram page AND changing the life of their new family - it's pretty priceless.
