HELP PINKY'S FAMILY

A few weeks ago, I was introduced to a heartbreaking story in León, Mexico. A kind man named Juan reached out, desperate for help after his beloved dog, Pinky, was brutally attacked in his home—her skull shattered with a metal pipe by an intruder, leaving her in critical condition.

With no money and no resources, Juan was turned away by four different veterinarians before finally finding one willing to treat her on credit.

If he didn’t have the 14 pesos (80 cents) to take the bus, he walked two hours after work just to visit Pinky in the hospital. Despite the best efforts and the generosity of so many who helped fund her care, Pinky didn’t make it.

The trauma was too severe. But in the process of trying to save her, we learned more about Juan’s story—it broke my heart.

Juan (shown in first photo above with sweet Pinky) grew up in an abusive home filled with violence and poverty. His first experience with love came from a street dog who was later poisoned. As a child, he tried to protect another dog and her puppies, only to lose most of them in heartbreaking ways. Despite his own hardships—living without running water and barely scraping by—he has devoted his life to rescuing street animals in his area. Right now, he is caring for 41 animals (37 dogs and 4 cats), none of whom are fixed or vaccinated.

It's a disaster waiting to happen.

The At-Choo Foundation wants to help Juan and these animals, but we can’t do it without you. The cost to spay/neuter and vaccinate all 41 animals is $2,337—a huge undertaking, but one we believe is possible with your support.

This is not only about giving Juan the help he badly needs, but also stopping the cycle of suffering for animals in Mexico—and of course, honoring Pinky’s memory.

Please, if you can, consider making a life-saving donation. Every single dollar, no matter the amount, will will change lives—for Juan, for his animals, and for the countless others he will continue to save.

Thank you.
